Leaving a Legacy: Including cann in Your Will

A gift in your will is a powerful way to continue making a difference. By including cann Charitable Trust, you’ll help ensure people with neurological conditions continue to access the care, tools, and support they need — wherever they live.

Whether large or small, your legacy helps deliver life-changing services, grow clinician expertise, and strengthen care for future generations.

How to Leave a Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your will to cann Charitable Trust is easier than you might think.

We encourage you to talk with your family and seek advice from your legal or financial advisor. It's important that your loved ones are cared for first — and that your wishes are clearly recorded.

If you already have a will, your advisor can help you add a gift to cann with a simple update (called a codicil). This must be signed by you and witnessed by two independent people.

There are several ways you can leave a legacy:

  • A fixed sum of money
  • A specific item (such as shares or personal property)
  • A percentage of your estate
  • A portion — or the full remainder — of your estate, after other gifts and expenses are settled

Every gift, no matter the size, helps ensure more New Zealanders living with neurological conditions receive the support they deserve — now and into the future.

Testimonials

Thank-you team, for a wonderful service. It's certainly made a difference in my life.

Julie - Late Effects of Polio
Thank you for the support. It really helped right when I needed it in a lovely supportive environment.

Chris - Recently Diagnosed Parkinson's
....it is an excellent programme and I learnt so much. People say to me I am walking better, and I am falling less often. I understand a lot more about my condition.

Belina - Recently diagnosed Parkinson's
The Polio Morning Tea and exercise Zoom sessions have become high points in my week. The simple association with others sharing the same challenges and setbacks via weekly Zoom sessions are helping me in ways I am still discovering. Just being able to talk to other Polios has been an incredible benefit. I thank you for making them possible.

Mervyn
Assessment and advice on managing physical problems presenting in recent times., resulting in an improvement of pain levels and mobility.

...Learning how to move my body and limbs in a way to safeguard my walking and general body movements.

Keith
The polio fatigue management course really helped to re-organise my life and help me come to terms with my limitations.

Carole
Being in the dark about what caused my condition for over 30 years and meeting some of the team at cann has been life changing for me. I hope and pray you will be able to continue for many years to come.

Carole
The despair felt by Polios can lead them to increasing isolation and depression but knowing that I have regular (online) visits from people who understand what is happening to me, brings me out again and helps restore my confidence.

Mervyn
... provided me with the knowledge that with exercise I can improve my symptoms. Thank you for making a huge difference to my physical health and the hope that I gained in understanding my condition better.

Donna - Diagnosed with Parkinson's
Knowledge, means and support to help manage and strengthen my specific movement symptoms of Parkinsons

Barbara - Diagnosed with Parkinson's
The classes improve my co-ordination between my brain and limbs, provide mutual support between clients attending the same classes, and maintain or improve my physical strength and balance.

I have benefited on several fronts. I have received physical assessments and accurate information about what was happening to me and how to deal with some of the changes in my life.

Mervyn
